No LGBTQ Category Included in Census Proposal for 2020 Count

No LGBTQ Category Included in Census Proposal for 2020 Count”

Tuesday's initial release from the Census Bureau proposed including lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people on both surveys. But the celebration was short-lived: The U.S. Census on the same day announced those categories were included in error.

"Information from these surveys helps the government to enforce federal laws like the Violence Against Women Act and the Fair Housing Act and to determine how to allocate resources like housing supports and food stamps", Meghan Maury, the criminal and economic justice project director for the Task Force, said in a statement.

Not even two weeks after the US Department of Health and Human Services eliminated questions about LGBT people on two crucial national surveys on the elderly and the disabled, the Trump administration extended their erasure of LGBT Americans yesterday when they announced they would not include the option to declare sexual orientation and gender identity on the 2020 US Census. Thompson, the keynote speaker at the event, talks about the changes happening with the 2020 Census, which will be the first that most Americans complete online instead of on paper. The correction suggests that the draft report included LGBTQ data collection recommendations or plans.

French-Chinese community protest after police shoot man dead
Chen Xiaoqi, the chairman of the Qingtian Association in France, said most of those involved in the protest were young people. China's state-run Xinhua News Agency says that, according to witnesses, one man of Chinese origin was injured in the clashes.

LGBTQ advocacy groups are outraged after proposed questions regarding sexual orientation and gender identity were quickly removed Tuesday from a just-released draft of the 2020 U.S. Census.

The census now gives a snapshot of same-sex households, which has been used as an approximation of gay couples.

Activists in the LGBT community and Democratic lawmakers have been pushing for the next Census to gather information on sexual orientation to get a better picture of the American people's family and sexual dynamics, the Washington Times reported. According to the Task Force, more than 100,000 LGBTQ people included the sticker on their 2010 census envelopes.

Illinois' Unemployment Rate Dropped in February
A press release from the governor's office said the Jacksonville MSA saw an increase of about 25,000 jobs in the previous year . The state economy added 12,300 jobs over the same period, reaching an all-time high job count of 8,045,400.

The National LGBT Task Force shared similar sentiments to Garden State Equality regarding the decision to exclude questions related to gender identity or sexual orientation.

According to the Washington Blade, the census has in fact, never included questions about sexual orientation or gender identity, though federal agencies have always been trying to get such questions included to help with shaping policies. The survey is meant to evaluate the effectiveness of programs funded by the Older Americans Act, such as services for home-delivered meals, homemaker services and the National Family Caregiver Support Program. The possible topics of those questions were released on Tuesday as part of the run-up to the 2020 Census, the national head count of every resident in the USA required by the Constitution every 10 years.

Conducted every ten years, the census provides crucial data influencing government programs.

He said at the time: "I am a witness, I was the last one on the scene before he died so I am not allowed to say anything". United Kingdom foreign minister Tobias Ellwood was covered in blood and looked dazed as paramedics arrived at his side.

HRC President Chad Griffin said, "The Trump Administration has launched a deliberate campaign to erase LGBTQ people from federal data used to inform budgets and policies across the government".
