House Intel Chair Apologizes For Briefing White House Before Ranking Member”

He said the communications did not appear to be related to the Federal Bureau of Investigation's ongoing probe of whether Trump campaign aides criminally colluded with Russian interests to help him win last November's election.

Nunes also said the committee has asked FBI Director James Comey to return and answer more questions in a closed session.

Nunes, who served on Trump's transition team executive committee, was criticized by Democrats for bypassing his own committee to present his claims directly to Trump, who is now under investigation. The chairman claimed to have read several dozen reports, but said he did not have them in his possession.

Nunes' remarks cited anonymous sources, and he admitted they did not bolster Trump's unproven assertion that he was wiretapped at the behest of incoming President Barack Obama.

The injured bodyguard then pulls out his gun and, while lying on the floor, opens fire on the killer, who died later in hospital. Ukraine's prosecutor general, Yuri Lutsenko, wrote on Facebook that the killing was "the usual kind of Kremlin retribution".

According to Mr Nunes, the surveillance was during the period between Mr Trump's election win and his inauguration, a period when he would have been talking to foreign leaders.

In an extraordinary set of statements to reporters, Republican Rep. Devin Nunes said the intercepted communications do not appear to be related to the ongoing FBI investigation into Trump associates' contacts with Russian Federation or any criminal warrants.

Nunes took the nearly unprecedented step of calling an impromptu press conference to discuss highly classified documents he hadn't shared with fellow committee members and then heading to the White House to brief Trump on his allegations.

Democratic Congressman Adam Schiff indicated Friday, that his rift with House Intelligence Committee chairman Devin Nunes is far from healed.

The new law is the first NASA authorization to pass both houses of Congress since the NASA Authorization Act of 2010. The legislation also makes human exploration of Mars an agency goal .

Schiff said today he was "blindsided but mostly just mystified" by Nunes' actions yesterday.

The key to that conclusion is the unmasking of selected USA persons whose names appeared in the intelligence, the sources said, adding that the paper trail leaves no other plausible goal for the unmasking other than to damage the incoming Trump administration.

"Most of the names in the intercepts were in fact masked, and the chairman's concern was that he could still figure out the identities of some of the parties even though the names were masked", Schiff told reporters.

The intelligence committee's ranking Democrat Alan Schiff on Wednesday accused his opposite number of acting on behalf of the White House, instead of behaving impartially. Senator John McCain, a Republican heading the powerful armed services committee of the upper chamber of U.S. congress, said he is calling for "select committee or a special committee ..."

G-20 grapples with differences on trade
Trump has repeatedly emphasized that the US needs a tougher approach to trade that would put American workers and companies first. Europe, China and Brazil want the G-20 to preserve current language calling for a rejection of protectionism "in all its forms".

"Need select committee!" Biden wrote, echoing calls from other Democrats and a small handful of Republicans for an independent investigation.
