A neighbor discovered the twin sisters in critical condition the next morning. They were stranded outside overnight, mere steps away from one of their homes, in temperatures that fell to 13 degrees Fahrenheit.

The pair had gone out for dinner with their 89-year-old sister the night they died. Their younger sister also lived in Barrington, but not as close as the twins lived to each other. They were pronounced dead at the hospital Saturday. Haley lived along the Providence River waterfront in Barrington for more than 60 years.
