The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is urging doctors to protect children from the harms of marijuana as the nation becomes increasingly tolerant of the drug's use. A group of doctors is trying to raise awareness among parents, stating the potential damages which could be involved in marijuana consumption among adolescents. Minors can get medical marijuana with parents' written permission in most states that have legalized medical marijuana.

February 27, 2017 (EIRNS)-The American Academy of Pediatrics is strengthening its warning of the potential harm to today's teens because of increasingly lax laws and attitudes towards marijuana use, Associated Press reports.

The report appears in the February 27 online issue of the journal Pediatrics.

"We would rather not mess around with the developing brain", said Dr. Seth Ammerman, a pediatrician who co-authored the report.
