Sixers 'in talks' to trade Jahlil Okafor to New Orleans”

We knew this time would come.

The Philadelphia Sixers have been fielding offers for former #3 overall pick Jahlil Oakfor throughout the month and it looks like they might finally have a trading partner in the New Orleans Pelicans.

Cameroon Win Africa Cup of Nations Thanks To Vincent Aboubakar's Wonder Goal
Not many fancied them to lift the Cup, especially after a 1-1 draw against Burkina Faso (eventual semi-finalists) in their opener. Such accomplishment looks big, when one understands that some of their key players chose to skip the competition.

The two teams are reportedly discussing a deal that would send Okafor to New Orleans in exchange for veteran center Alexis Ajinca and a future first-round Draft pick, as first reported by Sam Amick of USA Today Sports. They're now tied with the Minnesota Timberwolves for the fifth best lottery odds with a record of 19-32, so it's likely the team will want to protect the pick in some capacity. However, giving up a first round pick for a player that may only be a rotational player on a good team is too much for the Pelicans to part ways with. New Orleans has also attempted to include Omer Asik in the deal, according to The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski, but Philly declined.

The Philadelphia 76ers finally made their move and broke the minor standstill in the National Basketball Association trade rumors on Monday afternoon. Okafor is developing much slower and has red flags on the defensive end.

Pairing him next to the versatile Anthony Davis in New Orleans could be an intriguing fit.

Another key piece was that the Sixers recently were rumored to be interested in Jrue Holiday as a free agent option this summer. The team would be taking a chance in bringing on an unproven talent with an undetermined National Basketball Association worth, but must believe he can thrive with Davis.
