Dexter Fowler to sign with Cardinals, heading to St. Louis for physical

That's really about all you can learn from Fowler signing a five-year, $82.5 million deal with the Cardinals on Friday after Heyward jumped to the Cubs for $184 million last December. The conference is scheduled for 10 a.m. CST.

Fowler was also a free agent a year ago, when he spurned a $33 million, three-year offer from Baltimore, who refused to offer an opt out after one year, and signed a $13 million, one-year deal with the Chicago Cubs. Fowler had a very strong May, too, hitting.295/.403/476 - and by the time the first two months of the season were over, he had hit six of his 13 total home runs. However, last season, Fowler climbed out of the red and recorded his first-ever positive full season by DRS, saving the Cubs a single run in just over 1,000 innings in center field.

That visual might be disorienting for Cubs fans who just watched what will probably be the best two seasons of Fowler's career. With Fowler's arrival, Randal Grichuk will move to left field and leadoff hitter Matt Carpenter will become the Cardinals' No. 3 hitter.

Israel rejects Paris summit, open to talk with Palestinians
It also proposed an worldwide conference to further talks by the end of the year. A similar meeting was held in Paris in June.

There is no word yet on the framework of Fowler's contract, but reported it's expected to be in the range of four years and $60 million.

Fowler was introduced about 16 hours after The Press Box host Frank Cusumano confirmed on Twitter the former Cubs outfielder had a physical scheduled with the Cardinals Friday morning.

"He was always someone we were hoping to sign", Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak said, noting the franchise has a goal of becoming more athletic, especially defensively.

The lanky 30-year-old from Atlanta is a.268 career hitter over nine seasons with Colorado, Houston and the Cubs. "Now we're playing against each other". 2017 Opening Day Chicago Cubs at St. Louis Cardinals, Sunday Night Baseball, April 2. There was Fowler at the top and then a dip to a group that did not include the surefire transformative player the Cardinals sought. "We think he's only going to enhance (what we already have)".

Fowler said negotiations with the Cardinals were easy with one notable exception. Also remember that this winter's free-agent signings are governed by the previous CBA, so what's noted above is correct - the Cardinals lose their first-round pick and the Cubs get a supplemental pick that will follow the first round next June.

In every one of our draws, we were much more closer to winning than the opponent and we deserve to win these matches. Mourinho also felt that it is hard to play against Everton due to their direct style of play.
