A passenger plane with 47 people on board crashed and caught

There was "no chance" any of the 47 people on board the Pakistan International Airlines flight from northern Chitral to Islamabad survived, Sardar Aurangzeb Nalota, a local legislator, told AFP.

Reports said the aircraft crashed on way to Islamabad from the northern town of Chitral after losing contact with the air traffic control.

The cause of the crash was not immediately clear. Popular singer Junaid Jamshed was reportedly on board the flight.

He said rescue personnel were en route to the scene, to see if some of those board had survived.

The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane had just taken off from the Chitral region in Pakistan's north near the border with Afghanistan.

Washington Redskins at Arizona Cardinals
After a mid-game lull, the Cardinals clicked again late in the third quarter and throughout the fourth. It followed a Redskinsdefensive stop that led to a missed 53-yard field goal by the Cards.

So far thirty-six bodies have been recovered.

The bodies were burned beyond recognition, police said.

Civil and military rescue teams are dispatched to the region to locate the location of the aircraft which had been flown by Captain Saleh Janjua and copilot Ahmed Janjua.

PIA has released names of passengers, who included Junaid Jamshed, a famous singer-turned-Islamic-preacher.

It is believed Pakistani popstar Junaid Jamshed, whose Dil Dil Pakistan was an unofficial anthem, was believed to be among the dead.

Hawkeyes Heading To Outback Bowl
UF's 41-7 loss to MI previous year in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl in Orlando dropped its overall record in bowl games to 21-21. The team's most recent appearance in the game came in the 2013 season, when the Hawkeyes lost to LSU, 21-14.

The Pakistan media reports said the flight could have crashed near Abbottabad due to engine problems.

Pakistan's Dawn newspaper, citing police and aviation authorities, reported that the plane crashed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and that Pakistani troops and army helicopters have been mobilized to search for survivors and wreckage.

All but nine PIA planes were banned from flying into European cities by the EU in 2007 following safety concerns over the ageing aircraft. All 130 people on board were killed.

Pakistan's airline industry has gone through a string of tragic accidents in recent years. It crashed into the mountains near Abbottabad and Havelian.

Another deadly civilian plane crash involving a Pakistani jet occured in 1992 when a PIA Airbus A300 crashed into a cloud-covered hillside on its approach to the Nepalese capital Kathmandu, killing 167 people.
