Van Der Breggen wins women's road race

Rio de Janeiro (AFP) - Anna van der Breggen powered to victory in the women's Olympic cycling road race on Sunday after a horrific crash involving Dutch compatriot Annemiek van Vleuten.

Annemiek van Vleuten was said to be "conscious and OK" after her bone-crunching crash at Rio 2016.

And while the race was still taking place, nobody seemed to quite care who took the gold as all were united in concern for van Vleuten.

Dutch rider Annamiek van Vleuten, who rides for Australian team Orica-AIS, was motionless after she crashed about 10km from the finish.

Indian parliament passes historic tax reform bill
The government, however, is confident that few opposition parties, barring the Congress, will make much of an issue out of it. The GST will have a central component, and a state component, which both forms of government will administer at their levels.

Abbott appeared to be home free for a gold medal once van Vleuten went down, with nobody near her on the course.

New Zealand's Linda Villumsen made an initial dab to catch the break but didn't persevere, and finished 23rd.

She crashed head first into the gutter, with television cameras quickly cutting away as she lay prone on the side of the road.

The Bay Area cyclists were in good position with 21 kilometers to go but they got left on the final ascent up Vista Chinesa in which Abbott shattered the field with aggressive tactics. "Then I looked under my shoulder and they were right there and they passed me".

Djokovic punishes Nishikori for fourth Rogers Cup title
Djokovic steadied the ship, eventually regained the break at 5-5, and promptly served things out to clinch the title. He broke in the sixth game, and nearly broke again in the eighth, but Nishikori aced to hold for 3-5.

Armitstead was one of the favourites for glory in the cycling but missed out in the 137-kilometres race as Holland's Anna van der Breggen won a dramatic gold.

Van Vleuten's tumble left Abbott, a Giro Rosa stage victor in July, as the sole leader on the flat run in to the finish line.

On Saturday, Italy's Vincenzo Nibali lost control in nearly the same spot as Van Vleuten and broke both collar bones. "She's in the ambulance and fully conscious", Hendriks said.

"Annemiek was leading but I realised I was now first in the team. If you wanted to win a medal we had to bring her back".

Carlos Beltran Traded to Texas Rangers
Chris Buescher benefited from some bad weather to win the Sprint Cup race at Pocono for his first victory in NASCAR's top series. But, it's the Indians rotation - Corey Kluber, Salazar, Carlos Carrasco, Josh Tomlin and Trevor Bauer - that makes them unsafe .
