Theresa May becomes new British PM after meeting Queen at Buckingham Palace

Cameron will formally resign during a meeting with Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace, then Theresa May, the Home Secretary, will take over.

May arrived at Buckingham Palace shortly afterward to be confirmed as British prime minister. He said: "being prime minister has been the greatest honor of my life". May, 59, has been Britains Home Secretary in charge of immigration and law and order for the past six years. Women are expected to feature prominently in her top team. "And I know because we're Great Britain that we will rise to the challenge", she told reporters, flanked by her husband, Philip.
