American student killed in Nice attacks”

A 20-year-old UC Berkeley student from Del Mar, who has been studying overseas in Nice, France, is missing following Thursday night's mass-casualty attack in the coastal Mediterranean city, the university reported Friday.

Three students from the University of California, Berkely were injured Thursday and one remains missing after a truck plowed into hundreds of people in Nice, France.

Leslie is the second UC Berkeley student to die in an overseas terror attack in less than a month. Two have been released after medical treatment.

"We know he successfully avoided colliding with the truck, but we lost him in the stampede and chaos that followed", Leslie's friend Abhinav Kukreja wrote on Facebook.

The program has been suspended for the national three days of mourning and will continue through its planned end date on July 24.

Leslie's family lives in the San Diego area.

"The last thing that we heard from one of his friends is that he was seen running off", said the woman, who gave only her first name, Antonella. "I have a few friends who are there in Nice right now in France", said Cal student Saunon Malekshah.
